Meet Dwayne...

 

 

 

Dwayne Hicks has been an employee in the code enforcement profession for 15 years.  He has been involved in every aspect of the industry. He started his codes enforcement career with the City of LaVergne, Tennessee in 1992 as a building inspector and codes enforcement officer. From 1995 to 2003 the City of LaVergne experienced exponential growth. During several months he issued over 1,000 new single family dwelling permits. While there he started a planning department, an engineering department, a fire marshal's office and a hazardous materials team.

After leaving LaVergne, Dwayne became an Instructor for the State of Tennessee's Fire Service and Codes Enforcement Academy. He developed and taught several classes on almost every subject that is involved in the code enforcement field. He traveled the State of Tennessee from Mountain City to Memphis, Clarksville to Chattanooga giving quality training to inspectors. He also developed and began instruction to several planning commission and board of zoning appeals members statewide to comply with the state law concerning their training.

Dwayne was then promoted to the position of Director of Manufactured Housing for the State Fire Marshal's Office. He worked very closely with all local building officials and the Tennessee Manufactured Housing Association to build a rapport between the manufactured housing industry and building officials. While in this position he developed and taught the training materials used to license manufactured housing installers.

Currently, Dwayne is the Planning and Codes Director for the City of Tullahoma Tennessee. He is also attending Middle Tennessee State University attempting to obtain his Political Science Degree with a concentration in Pre-law. Dwayne is married and has 5 children, and lives in Murfreesboro, Tennessee
